Saxoncourt Polska’s own Jack Gutkowski has recently been working closely with Tomasz Szczepanik, band leader and lead vocalist for the ever popular pop group Pectus – our students since June 2013.
As an amateur musician, Jack has had the pleasure of helping Tomasz translate the bands’ soon to be released Polish single “Paradise” into English.
Jack says that although it’s an exciting task, it is also quite complex. In order to fathom the message the artist would like to express, it is necessary to recognise cultural cues and connotations and stay within the fixed limit of words. Even more difficult, is synchronizing the English lyrics to the original musical arrangement to achieve a similar, lyrical rhythm.
