Studying all night before an exam, overuse of caffeine and similar extreme methods in the last minute will not help you achieve the expected result. As the day of the exam approaches, the tension grows among the students, but there are things you can do that will help you better prepare for an upcoming exam.
Although many students are prone to extreme studying, that is not the best way to approach things. Here are 5 things you should do before an exam:
1. Get 7+ Hours of Sleep
If you spend the night before the exam awake, it will take a toll. Students need to get at least seven hours of sleep. Lack of sleep badly affects their thinking and concentration.
2. What You Learned – You Learned
One of the worst habits of students is that most of them tend to study the day before the exam. Students are learning by heart, and because of this, they fall behind their classmates. They try to learn everything in one day, but in this way, the knowledge that is gained is very poor in quality. Instead, be diligent for the entire class and
3. Have a Goal in Mind
Not every subject is interesting and learning motivation can often lack. After the exam, you will be able to take time to devote yourself to other things. But studying must also be seen as a path to the realization of some values because it gives results that are significant to each of us.
4. Learning Techniques
A great learning technique consists of three parts: skeleton learning, what the subject represents and what its structure is, then observing the ‘muscle’ that is the additional information corresponding to the perceived essence, and finally trying to remember as many details as possible.
5. Eat Light Food
Before the exam, it is not advisable to eat foods high in protein because they reduce blood pressure and lead to drowsiness, as well as carbohydrates that are quickly consumed. The best choice is light food, fruits and vegetables that gradually releases glucose necessary for brain function.
And finally, when the exam is over, reward yourself somehow for all the hard work you put in. Even if your performance was inadequate, tell yourself: “It will be much better next time! Now I’m happy and I have done my best!”
