Shane Global Language students from Yucai Middle School and Dongnan Middle School in Hangzhou, China took part in two afternoon charity fun skates hosted by the Y Centre, Hastings, helping to raise over £400 for St Michael’s Hospice.
These events, taking place on the 5th and 6th of August 2014, were organised by a small group of young people from the local area. All proceeds were donated directly to St. Michael’s Hospice, which provides invaluable care for over 4,000 individuals in Hastings and Rother suffering with life-limiting illnesses.
A entrance fee per person for a two hour skate session, with drinks and refreshments, as well as the purchase of hospice wristbands and collection box donations, all contributed to the total.
Dubious but persevering and well-humoured skating efforts made for a light-hearted and thoroughly enjoyable afternoon, whilst raising funds for a worthy cause.
“We were incredibly pleased with the money raised and shall feel honoured to present it to the hospice. Thanks to Shane Global and all the students and teachers from Yucai Middle School and Dongnan Middle School for making it possible.” – Henry de Libero, NCS Social Action Project 2014.
